Looking to the Future

Many young graduates are looking ahead to see where the job market is heading before deciding on a career path. Going to college is expensive and creates a large amount of debt for most students and they want to know they will be able to pay back all the loans once they graduate.

Careers in the medical field are always important. They are well paid, even physician’s assistants, or occupational therapist assistants. As the baby boomers get older and retire there is a growing need for nurses and doctors also. If you are at all interested in medical professions, definitely look into those career options before making a decision. This can also include dental hygienist, and veterinary assistants and other technical jobs in the medical arena.

Education fields such as college professors are well paid. Elementary and high school teachers are needed and in demand as well. The downside is that it is also highly competitive, especially in higher education. Some areas pay teachers well, while others do not. If you are willing to teach in certain rural areas, there are federal and state programs that will help pay back your education loans. This option can ensure you get experience while helping to reduce your debt.

Financial service, such as accountants, actuaries, and financial advisors is a growing field looking for bright, innovative young minds. If you are good at math, or enjoy dealing with numbers, investment, and other financial related topics, this might be the career field for you.

The technology sector is also growing and in need of talented new minds. This is an ever changing and expanding area to have expertise and experience in, particularly system and software engineers, but also IT analysts.

Medicine, education, finances, and technology are the best options if you are looking for growing, well-paid career options.
